CREATE AN ESSAY JIGSAW PUZZLE
Many students arrive in the Sixth Form never having experienced writing an essay, yet teachers and examiners often assume they will "just know what to do". Nowadays these skills need to be taught because there are fewer opportunities for practise in earlier school years and the number of resources to select from has increased exponentially. Universities look actively for evidence of this skill amongst applicants.
One area that is often bypassed, even if writing skills are addressed, are the emotional effects involved in sustained writing. This jigsaw puzzle approach tackles issues such as planning, structure, tenacity, proofreading and academic honesty.
You can purchase Create an Essay Jigsaws directly from me. They are supplied with a lesson plan and a picture of the completed puzzle. The puzzles are made from thick laminated board, are robust and can be wiped clean. There are 96 pieces in total in the tin. They cost £25 each plus postage. I can supply an invoice.
"Your jigsaws were a great success with year 13 IB students; but I need more jigsaws for when I do essay skills with Year 10 and Year 12 essay skills and plagiarism"
